“…Oninbo” is the debut release with my great friend (and near-constant source of inspiration) Darin Gray. We started playing together back in 2012 so this document is a long time coming and I couldn’t be more excited to present it on my own Yoke imprint.
I am now accepting preorders over at the YOKE page. They will ship out the week of May 5th, 2015. If you need one sooner, come snag one in person at one of our upcoming tour dates:
– Friday, May 1st – Tyler Damon / Darin Gray duo w/ Sedcairn Archives (Indianapolis, IN), Microsleep @ The Artifex Guild (1017 S. Walnut St.), Bloomington, IN – 8PM
– Saturday, May 2nd – Tyler Damon / Darin Gray duo w/ Wrest (Jack Wright, Evan Lipson, Ben Bennett) @ The Spot Tavern (409 S. 4th St.), Lafayette, IN – 8PM
– Sunday, May 3rd – Tyler Damon / Darin Gray duo w/ TBA @ Institute 4 Creativity (111 S. Walnut St., 2nd Floor), Champaign, IL – 8PM

Upcoming live dates in April and May:
I cannot extend enough gratitude to Tashi Dorji for inviting me along on two of his Midwestern tour dates. We had an absolutely killer time together and I am psyched to see where the future takes this new collaboration. His new album, “Appa,” is out any day now on Asheville’s Bathetic records. Don’t miss it! As far as I can tell, no one on planet Earth is playing music like Tashi at the moment. Find out for yourself.

Darin Gray and I’s debut recording, “Oninbo,” is out on my own label, Yoke, on May 5th, 2015. Darin and I began collaborating in late 2012 and I couldn’t be more excited to finally bring our music to light. Catch us on a mini-tour May 1st-4th (Bloomington, Lafayette, Champaign, St. Louis) – show details can be found on the LIVE page. We will have copies of the tape on hand…please come out and say hello!
I’ve got some announcements I’m very excited about! First of all…
…I will be joining the incredible guitarist TASHI DORJI (Asheville, NC via Bhutan) on March 31st in Lexington, KY and April 1st in Lafayette, IN. He will be on tour in support of his upcoming LP on Bathetic records entitled “Appa.” If you’re in or near Lexington or Lafayette, please come say hello! Check out the LIVE page for more info on the shows…

…my great friend and bassist extraordinaire DARIN GRAY and I planned a handful of dates in early May to spread the word about our upcoming duo release on my label, YOKE. As always, more information on the shows can be found on the LIVE page. Darin and I will also be joining MARS WILLIAMS (Psychedelic Furs, NRG Ensemble, The Waitresses, et al) for the first time since our debut trio performance in Summer of 2013 at the St. Louis Art Museum (see above photo) on Monday, June 22nd in Chicago at the illustrious Experimental Sound Studio. More details on this tour as the dates approach…
Below is a little promo write-up on the mini-tour and release:
“Tyler Damon (drums/percussion) and Darin Gray (electric bass/percussion) are hitting the road this Spring in support of their debut release, “Oninbo.” Upon first meeting in 2012, the duo began developing a rapport over several live dates in the American Midwest, eventually culminating in their first recording session in the Autumn of 2014. The result is “Oninbo,” a recording that has, perhaps unintentionally, evoked an abstract narrative of the ‘Implacable Man’ trope, conjuring feelings of foreboding doom, exhausting intensity, and eerie calm via electro-acoustic free-improvisation and an aggregate of disparate personal influences. This drums/percussion and bass duo is the latest of several such collaborations for Darin, having performed for many years as one half of On Fillmore with Glenn Kotche and one half of Chikamorachi with Chris Corsano. However, Damon and Gray confidently stand apart with their eyes toward the future…”
